Video Cropping demonstration was done in 4K mode (which doesn’t have image stabilisation)…so any assumption that the cropping is a result of the stabilisation…are wrong.

Kilgore Trout says:

have you made a video of Lomographic cameras yet?

Kilgore Trout says:

am i missing something? prime lenses do not zoom.

NicWithoutaK says:

Lol call me crazy…but that lens mount system looks realllllly familiar. I think I've seen it on my Nikon D80, D7100, D3500, and even my N90s. Nikon likes to call it the "F Mount" or "Bayonet F Mount System".

Yi just kinda took it, even the location of the cpu contacts, and flipped it all upside down.

Dave Kotro says:

what lenses specifically had you using for photos in this review?

Javier Ogeda says:

My congratulations for your video. It is a delight to find such exhaustive reviews. At this moment there is the kit with two objectives for 250 euros. I find it very good price. I never use the video function. I only take photos. I have a reflex (nikon), but I am looking for a second camera, cheap and handy for travel, with something more quality than a smartphone.

In your opinion, for my needs, only for photography, is a good purchase for that price? The autofocus is also horrible in photos?

Or is it definitely not recommended?

I have a special hope for the 42mm lens for portraits.

Thank you very much for the reply.

Greetings from Spain.

Javier Ogeda says:

Richard Tuck says:

It's not worth it when you can get a good entry level APS-C DSLR for not much more.

allen schmitz says:

I have the YI 4K action cam..I love it.

FROZEN FRIDGE says:

TheGeneralCrow says:

Jens8502 says:

RyanSheldonArt says:

i love techmoan videos! as a side note….does anyone know the name of the song the gentleman is singing starting at 20:51?

Martin D A says:

(For people saying this is a crap camera…)
You just wouldn't buy this (EDIT: just) for video. The Sony sensor is amazing, and the range of four thirds lenses now encompasses a complete range of professional quality and budget models at all focal lengths. This is a lovely camera to look at and takes exceptional stills and is in fact good value – if that is what you want. The lack of articulating screen is a big drawback though, but this is a difficult and costly item to engineer into a camera body. If you want a relatively cheap, small high quality stills camera that looks lovely and has a fine lens and sensor combination wth the ability to take high quality video, if you are careful..Why not? I think Techmoan was very clear that this was biassed toward stills. One thing I noticed that I don't think was mentioned, the turn on time was instant, which maybe today is expected, but certainly wasn't the case a few years ago.
Techmoan, covered just about everything a fine reviewer, who takes extreme care to be thorough, concise – and unbiassed, all very rare qualities. Your piccies were lovely too.
I thought it was a nice camera, and is certainly a good first try from a maker I really never heard of before (apart from Techmoan's reviews). I would expect it to get a reasonable 6/10 overall and 7.5/10 for stills alone. (plucked out of my arse, sure, but hey).

Review the Gameboy camera and printer

Hi FI GuRu says:

Amazing camera, I also use it in my reviews. I like its compactness, convenience, versatility, cheapness, low noises, image quality. I shoot on alternative manual lenses.

Rob Stammers says:

Wouldn't touch this 📸 with a preverbial barge pole, seen several YouTube reviews on the Yi M1, this being by far the best review, a proper camera needs a good viewfinder, not a battery eating touch screen.
Yes, it looks nice, but control of the camera functions need to be more intuitive, I'll be sticking with my Canon DSLR for some time to come. As usual great review.

geokatsianis says:

Great Video. I think this camera is not a good value. With a bit more money you can get something much better like a Panasonic FZ300 or even a G7.

Sealance says:

Is that the sony multi-shoe on top? Might be able to fit a ECMXYST1M external mic on it..

Photo Expert says:

PLEASE STOP APOLOGIZING YOU ARE BRILLIANT.

Ali Khan says:

I just figured out why you sound so hypnotic, you sound just like Sir Anthony Hopkins!! I meant to compliment you ofc.

Rod Drixx says:

Basically a Nikon J1 knockoff with added 4K. (Nikon 1)

Penurious Sierra says:

I wanted to get this but I had no money to buy that so I got an action cam (in 1080p60) instead. 🙁

hellomyphone says:

Actually this is the beste review of the YI M1. I’m considering it at the current price of 280€ … but there are too many things you mentioned…

Peter Jespersen says:

So it is a good camera – for the prize. Most problems are fixable through firmware updates – but the lenses are shite.
