A very interesting comparison, it seems like you have more versatility with the DSLR but you need to know what you’re doing, the iPhone makes it easy for us normal people 🤣

Good video…..is there any difference between iPhone XS camera and iPhone xsmax ‘s camera ?

R K says:

Although Iphone's photos are good, Canon has much better quality, images look much more natural.
Iphone is not cheap but still the sensor is much smaller and does not work in all situations well while DSLR can still be used for any situation!

El Calvo Zidane says:

If you want to take snapshots, a phone would do, if you want to take photographs, a DSLR is the way to go.

mohammed alnatheer says:

The real difference is video where you can't fake bokeh

JimzAuto says:

Thank you for this production and comments. Agree that it's ultimately pointless- and that's the point! Comparing 'apples and oranges' helps set our level of expectation.

BFS says:

Smartphone (and P&S) photography is centered mostly on the Joy of Photography with image artistic quality improved along with experience. Advancement in camera technologies such as IBIS, AF, etc., help many users to take nice images with no or little understanding of the Science of Photography.

Experienced photographers can shoot awesome images even with a smartphone, because they understand the gear (just use ISO and shutter speed with a fixed lens). It can be easily done by thinking of it as a TLR or some early rangefinders. Check out Master Photographer Fan Ho's portfolio with a TLR.

I like shooting with my smartphone because it forces me to get back to the basic. That is fun against the auto everything trend, such as getting lazy with shallow DOF to eliminate the background distractions.

However, if one wishes to move beyond the Joy of Photography into the Art and Science of Photography, then a dedicated camera with flexible controls will be helpful.
